Suncoast Epilepsy Association

Suncoast Epilepsy Association (SEA) is a local, non-profit organization, which is the sole provider of services to individuals affected by epilepsy in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. The agency was originally chartered by the State of Florida in 1973 and is a member of the Florida Epilepsy Service Providers Association (FESPA). The target population that we serve is estimated at 2% of the population or approximately 28,000 Pinellas and Pasco residents. Suncoast's Case Management Program provides medical,  counseling, education, advocacy and pre-vocational services to medically and financially needy individuals with epilepsy without regard to race, sex, religion, national origin, creed, or political persuasion.

Suncoast's Prevention and Education Program provides general epilepsy education, awareness of SEA services, and epilepsy prevention information to physicians, nurses, emergency first responders, school personnel and students, County Public Health units, employers, substance abusers, the elderly and their caregivers and the general public.

Prevention is also a part of Suncoast's education effort. This proactive program seeks to prevent some kinds of epilepsy by teaching how to avoid known causes and prevent additional seizures once epilepsy has been diagnosed, and prevent social and personal problems associated with epilepsy in our society.
